The new twelfth studio album of Polish extreme metallers “Opvs Contra Natvram” will be released on September 16, 2022 on the Nuclear Blast label. In the meantime, Nergal and the company are showing a clip for the next single “Thy Becoming Eternal”.

Gloomy, like the music of the composition, an animated music video produced by Japanese animator Ruben Fro is already available on YouTube and can be seen below.

Adam “Nergal” Darski comments:

Legions! Our new offering from Opvs Contra Natvram — Thy Becoming Eternal. As always, we’re trying to keep things fresh! The video was produced by talented Japanese animator, Ruben Fro, who created this epic, aeonic CG landscape for our stoic warrior to journey through. The song itself is a fast and furious beast with a bombastic ending, definitely one of the most intense songs in Behemoth. Let us know if you agree!

The album was engineered by Daniel Bergstrand) (Meshuggah, In Flames, etc.) and was mixed by Joe Barresi (Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Alice in Chains).

Here’s what the label’s statement says:

Opvs Contra Natvram is the sheer embodiment of rebellion, individuality and unflinching self-expression, shaped by a literary worldview. It also reflects a musical evolution, there’s little doubt that Opvs Contra Natvram BEHEMOTH’s strongest and most sophisticated project to date.

The new album will include 10 tracks lasting 43 minutes.

According to the label, Behemoth leader Adam “Nergal” Darski, known for his increased attention to detail and full creative control over the band, surpassed himself, which was caused by the environment created by the pandemic. The band had no time limits for recording, which allowed for an unprecedented level of attention to the process of creating new material.

Says Nergal:

The album title means going against the current. It’s the negative of the values and morals and ethics that I stand against. I’ve seriously been wrestling with destructive tendencies in pop culture — cancel culture, social media, and tools which I feel are very dangerous weapons in the hands of people who are not competent to judge others. That’s something which I find very destructive and disturbing — and extremely limiting coming from an artists’ perspective. This is my middle finger to that. There’s a song on the record called “Neo-Spartacvs.” Spartacus was one of the most iconic rebels in history who went against the most powerful empire of all time. In the end, it’s me screaming, “I Am Spartacus, and so are you!” I want to spark that flame of rebellion. If something seems wrong then stand up to it!

“Opvs Contra Natvram” has a cover available in both black and white, and will be released in various physical formats with limited editions, which will undoubtedly please collectors.
