Norwegian black metal band Darkthrone are set to release their new album Astral Fortress on October 28. The record will be released on the Peaceville Records label. Well, in the meantime, in order not to bore the fans, they share a new single from the upcoming record – Caravan Of Broken Ghosts. This is the first track from the new album, lasting almost eight minutes. The video of this composition can be seen below, by the way the video was shot by Fenriz himself. The song starts with an acoustic guitar, smoothly passing into something between doom and mid-tempo black metal with a beautiful dark atmosphere. Closer to the middle and further on in the track the tempo increases and you can even hear something like thrash black metal. This is a great track. You can even say it’s epic in a way. This is what Fenriz said:
There is a revisit vibe of Quintessence at first, which is a total coincidence as it is Ted’s song and I wrote “Q”. The song then explodes into fiercer metal, pounding and catching there as well, with clever riff shifts. And then the classic doom ending. Thank you, Ted.

“Astral Fortress” was recorded at Chaka Khan Studios in Oslo, the same place where Eternal Hails was recorded, with Ole Øvstedal and Silje Hegevold. Judging by the track list, we’re in for another epic, as much as 10 minutes long.
