Decibel Books has announced the publication of Amorphis: The Official History of Finland’s Greatest Metal Band, in English. The 376-page hardcover book presents a full biography of the Finnish metal band, contains tons of rare and never-before-seen photos, and a 16-page color section. The book is available for pre-order through the Decibel online store.
The announcement of the edition says that Amorphis finally got a proper English translation. The official history of Finland’s greatest metal band masterfully describes the band’s history from their teenage era to their emergence as Finland’s most important metal band, thanks to their bold integration of doom, folk and progressive rock on albums like Tales from the Thousand Lakes, Elegy and Circle.
Author Markus Laakso paints a fascinating portrait of Amorphis’ meteoric rise, creative and commercial failures and triumphant revival through in-depth interviews with each current and former band member, as well as their countless collaborators throughout the band’s career. From their earliest days in the underground cassette trade scene of the late ’80s and early ’90s, through their current position as internationally recognized icons of extreme metal, the members of the Finnish band Amorphis have formed an important chapter in the history of heavy metal over the past three decades.
