Guitarist Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy, ex-Nevermore) and vocalist Graham Bonnet (ex-Alcatrazz, ex-Rainbow) are working on new material together.
Legendary 75-year-old British rock vocalist Graham Bonnet, who was in the late ’70s with Rainbow and later Michael Schenker Group, Impellitteri and is a founding member of Alcatrazz, has confirmed that he is collaborating with former Nevermore and current Arch Enemy guitarist Jeff Loomis on a new album. Graham reported that so far he and Jeff have already written six songs:
It’s just a matter of getting a deal for that, actually; that’s what we’re doing. We’re gonna do like a demo track so we can play it for somebody.
Jeff is a great guitar player and I am very proud to work with him. Loomis a powerhouse of a musician, a brilliant writer and a great guy. His skills are unparalleled and I am thrilled at the prospect of recreating the magic of the early days of Alcatrazz but with a modern, heavier sound. When I first heard Jeff, I was astonished by his technique coupled with his great feel and incredible melodies.
In turn, Jeff said the following:
I’m super excited to be working with Graham Bonnet. I’ve been a longtime fan of his vocals and lyrics for many years, and it’s going to be an honor to craft some amazing music together and play some select live shows.
After leaving the American band Alcatrazz in 2020, Bonnet put together his own version of the band, calling it Graham Bonnet’s Alcatrazz. Later, in June 2021, it was announced that Loomis would join the project. Therefore, it is not clear yet, whether the material on which the two musicians are working will be released under this label, or it will be a separate Bonnet/Loomis project. In any case, we are waiting for the new material.
