Megadeth’s Dirk Verbeuren posted a drum-cam recording of Megadeth playing “Solider On!” live for the first time

The new full-time drummer for American thrash metal band Megadeth, Belgian Dirk Verbeuren, has posted on his YouTube channel footage of Megadeth playing “Solider On!” live for the first time on September 20 at Lakeview Amphitheatre in Syracuse, NY. You can watch the video below. As a reminder, Dirk Verbeuren became the band’s drummer right after the release of their last album Dystopia in 2016. Before that, he was a member of Soilwork, and he is also still a musician of the Norwegian death metal band Cadaver. Dirk replaced Chris Adler as drummer, who drummed on the last album, and during the tour he decided to devote himself to his main band at that time, Lamb of God. It’s worth mentioning that thanks to his more extreme drumming, Dirk Verbeuren added an extreme metal flavor to some songs and generally refreshed and accelerated the tempo of the new Megadeth album.

In a recent interview, Dirk talked about his favorite Megadeth songs to perform live:

I love ’em all. But definitely the Gar stuff, the stuff off of Peace Sells and Killing Is My Business. That’s the stuff I grew up with first, and it means a lot to me. Songs like “Wake Up Dead” or “The Conjuring” which we’ve been playing a lot recently, “Rattlehead”, “Mechanix” – all that crazy stuff. It’s a lot of fun. It’s a workout. They’re not the easiest songs to play, but I love Gar. He was something else and that stuff always makes me enjoy being there.

The single Soldier On! was released on August 12 and is included on Megadeth’s latest album, The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! You can read a full review of the album here.
