Rick Allen

He was born in Great Britain in 1963. The respected drummer of Def Leppard, who continued to perform after his arm amputation. At 15, Allen joined Def Leppard just before the band signed. In 1979 he decided to drop out of school to pursue a music career full-time.

On December 31, 1984, Rick Allen and his girlfriend were in a car accident. Because Rick was not wearing a seatbelt, he was thrown from the car on impact and his left arm was torn off. With the support of family and friends, Rick resumed practice, playing a hybrid drum kit specifically designed for him, and remained the full-time drummer of the band.
