With the break-up of Magnum in 1995 Bob started a solo project and also created a new band called Hard Rain. He is also known for his work with the band Avantasia.

The eighth studio album by American thrash metal classics Slayer was released on September 11, 2001 on the American Recordings label and produced by Rick Rubin. The album was released on the day of the tragedy in the United States. The eleventh and last full-length album by American thrash metal band Slayer was released on September 11, 2015. Exodus guitarist Gary Holt took part in the recording of the album, replacing Jeff Hanneman, who died in 2013. The record was released on the Nuclear Blast label.
